Get to Know KDL: Lynn from Plainfield

Meet Lynn! She's a Youth Librarian at the Plainfield Branch.  Besides helping with the youth library collection, she also leads Babytime and Toddler Time at our branch.  During the school year, she is one of the Librarians who goes out to the schools and does storytime with the Kindergarten classes at Northview Public Schools.

"My favorite part of my job is the interactions I have with the kids at storytimes in the branch and at the schools," said Lynn. "It's really fun to watch them grow and "graduate" from Babytime to Toddler Time, and it's great when a kid from the schools comes in and I'm able to help them find the next great book to read."

Let's get to know Lynn a little bit more.

When I was a child, I wanted to grow up to be...
A teacher and I pursued that goal.  I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor's degree and Teaching Certificate in 2002.  My journey led me to youth services at Kent District Library and I couldn't be happier.

The talent I really wish I had is...
To play a musical instrument.  I really wish I had stuck with those piano lessons many years ago.

My proudest accomplishment is...
All of the work that I have been able to contribute in the Summer Wonder programming group.  We plan the program for all of the KDL branches and have had to make some significant changes over the past few years to give our patrons the best experience we can.

If I had a day all to myself, I would spend my time...
Crafting and reading!

Three things I couldn't live without are...
My family, books and sunshine.
