Kent District Library is pleased to announce that it has been named a West Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For by the National Association for Business Resources. The competition identifies and honors organizations that display a commitment to excellence in their human resource practices and employee enrichment.
KDL was one of 157 winners, chosen from a group of over 6,100 nominees. Organizations are assessed based on categories such as communication, work-life balance, employee education, diversity, recognition, retention and more. All participating companies receive a complimentary assessment report and benefits throughout the year.
Every company that receives a nomination undergoes a thorough assessment with an independent research firm. Management and employees respond to a series of anonymous surveys to provide a thorough and extensive internal review. Results of all nominees are compared to create a comprehensive list of which companies in that area are truly the “Best and Brightest.”
“Our employees are our greatest asset, and we want them to feel excited and proud to work for KDL,” said Brian Mortimore, Director of Human Resources & Organizational Development for KDL. “At KDL we exist to further all people, and that includes our employees. We have repeatedly asked staff; ‘What can we do to be better?’ They tell us, we listen, and then we work to deliver a workplace culture that everyone can be proud of. This award is validation of a long-standing commitment to our people who work so hard in service to others. I’m happy for everyone associated with KDL, past, present, and future.”
The Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® is a program of the National Association for Business Resources that provides the business community with the opportunity to gain recognition, showcase their best practices and demonstrate why they are an ideal place for employees to work. “Being named a Best and Brightest workplace is a reflection of the culture at KDL, which is based on kindness, empathy and love for each other and the people we serve,” said KDL Executive Director Lance Werner. “Working at KDL is rewarding on many levels, and it all comes from having an outstanding team of visionary and passionate people.”
Winners will be honored at an annual symposium and awards luncheon on Thursday, May 7 at the JW Marriott.
