Making Connections: For Adults with Dementia and Their Caregivers

This fall, two KDL branches are presenting Making Connections, a program for adults with dementia and their caregivers. The program, being held at the Cascade and Caledonia Twp. Branches, will include fun and simple activities that will foster connection and support people who are walking a similar path in life.

"Libraries develop programs for lots of reasons, and some are to make the world a better place," said Ashley Smolinski, Branch Outreach and Programming Specialist. "Making Connections is one of those programs."

Activities at Making Connections will include puzzles, bingo, games, art, West Michigan Therapy Dogs and a performance by CARE Ballet.

"So many families who have parents or friends with dementia might be anxious or concerned about knowing what to expect our how to respond," Smolinkski said. "We'd like to offer a safe, predictable location with people who care at our libraries."
