Vibes Fest Performer Spotlight: Folias Duo

There's no better way to enjoy summer than with a music festival featuring your favorite West Michigan artists from the KDL Vibes, opens a new window collection. Vibes Fest will include daily concerts at KDL's Cascade Twp. Branch August 5-9, and the event will culminate with an all-day music extravaganza on August 10.

Folias Duo will be performing on Saturday, August 10 at 11:00 AM. The group is comprised of  Carmen Maret and Andrew Bergeron, a performer-composer duo. They invite you to a concert that's a little unconventional. They're challenging the classical music genre by blending it with jazz, world music and a sprinkle of improvisation. After creating music together for two decades, their original compositions and engaging performances have distinguished them among contemporary flute and guitar ensembles. They are excited to play their original pieces for you, inspired by their travels and the stunning beauty of nature, all of which feature on their latest album, "Heartdance."

Carmen said "We're excited about representing alongside all the great musicians and people in the Grand Rapid's music community. Also, it's great that the Vibes Fest is open to trying out more experimental presentations of music. We LOVE libraries. They are not only treasure troves that we explore, but also venues where we perform during our summer tours. Libraries are welcoming, safe spaces where everyone can learn, share ideas, problem-solve and appreciate diverse artistic aesthetics."
