KDL Welcomes New Regional Manager II

Kent District Library is pleased to welcome Joyanne Huston-Swanson to her new role as Regional Manager II at the Walker, Alpine Twp. and Tyrone Twp. Branches. She provides direct and indirect supervision of all branch staff and is responsible for day-to-day circulation operations and implementation of policy and procedural changes.

Huston-Swanson began her library career as Assistant Branch Manager for Tate Memorial Library in the Chippewa River District Library system out of Mount Pleasant, MI. She joined the staff at Kent District Library in 2010 and has held several roles, including Patron Services Associate, Outreach Specialist, Community Engagement Bookmobile Librarian and Manager in Training.

Hutson-Swanson said, "I'm excited to join the Walker, Alpine and Tyrone teams as the Regional Manager II. With big changes on the horizon for the libraries, especially the expansion project for the Walker Branch, I am looking forward to adding my skills and abilities to the mix and supporting the teams' efforts to serve our community members.  When I was filling the role of Manager in Training this summer, I could often be heard saying, "It's fixable!".  I believe by working together, being positive, focusing on problem solving and being proactive, we can handle almost anything that comes our way. It's an honor and a privilege to work with these teams."
