Congratulations to the Teen Poetry Contest Winners!

The Write Michigan Teen Poetry Contest received 359 entries this year, and we were so impressed by the level of talent on display! KDL would like to thank all our teen poets – it takes courage to share your art with strangers, and we are honored by your participation.

Congrats to the winners, who will each receive a gift card to Meijer!

Some words from GF Korreck:

Congratulations to all of you for sharing your work. It can be a scary thing to put yourself out there and wonder if anyone is listening. To be part of a competition can cause anxiety, too. What is most important, however, is not whether you win a contest, but that that you win the attention and the heart of someone out there who just needs to know they matter, that they are noticed.

I assure you that all of you were noticed. The poems were ambitious, heartfelt, real. So keep writing them. Poetry will not put money in your pocket (at least not very much) but it will make you rich in other ways and your work will matter.
