We aim to close the digital literacy gap by providing a range of tech assistance. Some tech questions can be handled at the desk, while others may require a longer, one-on-one appointment with a Tech Help Librarian.  Check below for details about this service.

We can help with many kinds of tech needs without an appointment. If your need requires an appointment, we can help you schedule one at your preferred branch.

Things You Can Ask a Librarian

Examples of tech needs that don't need an appointment:

  • Help with KDL-provided apps, tools and resources
    • Libby, Hoopla, Beanstack, MeLCat, etc.
  • Basic Computer & Device Skills
    • Like texting, using MS Office or sharing photos
  • Email & Account Help
    • Email setup or resetting your password
  • Online Navigation & Digital Literacy
    • Basic security, online forms, social media basics, and spotting scams
  • Job Application Help
    • Online forms, searching job sites, formatting resumes and cover letters
  • Document & Printing Help
    • Printing, scanning, uploading and sharing files

May Need an Appointment

    • Phone, tablet, Kindle, Launchpad, KDL hotspot or laptop
  • Design Help
    • Getting started in Canva, creating advertisements for small businesses
  • Accessibility Help
    • Voice-to-text, magnification, color contrast, screen readers, help with TBBC
  • Social Media
    • Privacy settings, blocking accounts or more in-depth account creation
  • Exploring AI Beyond the Basics
    • Using LLMs like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc., finding specialized AI tools, safety and privacy while using AI tools
