Enjoy these programs that celebrate science, technology, engineering, arts and math. These programs are designed for patrons ages 5-10. Patrons outside this age range are welcome to attend; however, the content might be too fast-paced or too simplistic, depending upon their age. Honeybees
A honeybee colony is made up of individual bees doing their jobs and depending on the other bees. Learn the three types of bees and their roles in a hive, see how bees gather nectar and turn it into honey, make a hand-rolled beeswax candle to take home and much more! Presented by Thornapple Woodlands Beekeeper Don Snoeyink. 

John Ball Zoo’s Travel Zoo
John Ball will bring the zoo to KDL! Students will learn about wildlife conservation through interacting with live zoo animals in the comfort of the library.

Backyard Safari
Have you ever explored your own backyard jungle and the animals that call it home? Join the Outdoor Discovery Center as we go on safari and explore our wild backyards with the help of our
animal ambassadors. 

Mini Brick Derby
Build your dream race car out of LEGO® bricks and see if it has what it takes to win! There will be one hour before the race to design and build your car using library-provided bricks, and then the all-ages derby race will begin. Sponsored by the Friends of the East Grand Rapids Library. 

Bubble Science
Bubbles are amazing! Why are they round? Why are they iridescent? Come learn all about the science of bubbles. 

Mad Science Presents Adventure Awaits
Go on an adventure using science! We’ll take off by creating a hot air balloon, go bungee jumping with Earl N. Meyer and create our very own flaming dragon’s breath. The adventures are endless when we have science and knowledge.
