Areli has been coming to the Nelson Twp. Branch storytimes and programs since she was a toddler. She signed up for Mission Read in February of 2019 and diligently kept track of all her days of reading. But a mere 40 days before completing her goal (of reading for 1,000 days), her parents let her know their family had to move out of state! She was heartbroken. She gathered up her log and brought it to the library and said "What can we do?"
The librarians agreed that she should definitely get her prize after keeping track for almost three years. The staff made a plan with her parents to email a picture of Areli with her finished Mission Read log after Thanksgiving. Then they could appoint a relative to come in and pick up her prize and arrange to mail it to their new home. The Nelson Branch staff received an email Thanksgiving day with her proud picture.
Her grandparents picked up her prize and she received it the week before Christmas. Areli has been getting to know her new Kindle eReader and figuring out all of the features. She has even used it to Zoom with her Nelson Twp. librarians.
Congratulations on completing your Mission, Areli!
