After months of anticipation, the newly renovated Cascade Branch of Kent District Library is ready to open its doors. The public is invited to join Cascade Township, Kent District Library and project partners for a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 23 at 5:30 pm.
The brief ceremony will be followed by tours of the new space, community vendor tables, and free treats from Culver’s for the first 300 guests. Visitors can explore new features of the branch, connect with staff and learn more about upcoming programs and services.
“We’re proud to bring this beautiful, reimagined library space to Cascade,” said Township Supervisor Grace Lesperance. “This project was built around what our community told us they needed most: more flexible gathering spaces, expanded technology and a welcoming place to learn, create and connect.”
“Every space tells a story,” said Lulu Brown, Regional Manager at Kent District Library. “The Cascade Library is a dynamic space that serves 200,000 visitors annually. This is a new chapter that honors the original architecture of the building, adds to Friendship Park, and meets current patron needs. Over the next few months, there will be even more for the community to enjoy.”
Local businesses will also be on-site offering giveaways, and all groups involved in the project have been invited to host informational tables.
The Cascade Branch Library renovation is the result of a close partnership between Cascade Township and Kent District Library, made possible through shared vision, community input and public investment. The new space includes expanded seating, updated technology, improved accessibility and more room for community events and children’s programming.
