Kristen Covelle has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Kent District Library by the Kent County Board of Commissioners. She represents Region 5, which includes the City of East Grand Rapids and Ada, Cascade and Grand Rapids Townships.
Covelle has been a KDL patron since 2004 and visits the library about twice a week. She has held many professional and volunteer roles including high school English and Theatre teacher, English and Communications professor, Odyssey of the Mind coach, play/musical director, Girl Scout troop leader, Board of Education member and more. She and her husband Brad have two teenage children.
“Kent District Library has enriched me personally and professionally for decades, so I am absolutely delighted to return the favor," Covelle said. "It’s truly an honor to serve on the Board for this award-winning library system that brings so much value to the community.”
The eight members of the KDL Board of Trustees represent 27 communities throughout Kent County. Major duties include establishing and maintaining a public library for Kent District Library, establishing library policies, employing the Library Director, adopting an annual budget and approving the expenditure of funds.
