Kent District Library Adds American Sign Language Learning Resource

Today is World Hearing Day and Kent District Library is pleased to add
ASLdeafined to its collection of free online resources. The content is for anyone who wishes to learn American Sign Language, regardless of age.
This resource was created by and for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

"We are really excited to offer this new database,” said Shelley Roossien, Accessibility & Inclusion Specialist at KDL. “Providing a tool for patrons to learn American Sign Language furthers KDL's commitment to accessibility."

ASLdeafined is aimed at those with hearing loss, their families and friends, and anyone in the hearing community that would like to learn and use ASL. According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Hearing Disorders, one in eight people in the US ages 12 and older have hearing loss in both ears.
