Kent District Library and Godfrey-Lee Public Schools joined forces to add a library collection at the East Lee Campus, Godfrey-Lee’s alternative high school, which did not have a media center or library. The materials will be used exclusively for students of East Lee.
KDL is providing books that will be popular among the student body of East Lee, as well as a separate catalog for the collection. The books will not float to other KDL branches, and will not be visible on the main KDL catalog. However, Godfrey Lee students will be able to place holds on items from the main KDL collection, which will be delivered to the school by the KDL Bookmobile on its regular route.
“I'm really excited about building a community partnership with KDL that allows East Lee students access to exciting literature choices while engaging them in a relationship with a community library that will serve them well into the future,” said Harry Coffill, Library Media Specialist for Godfrey-Lee. “The books chosen for the KDL Godfrey-Lee library are exciting, and I can't wait to see our students utilize the space.”
