Kent District Library Announces 3rd Annual “On the Same Page” Communitywide Reading Initiative

Kent District Library is encouraging adults to get “On the Same Page” with reading. KDL is thrilled to announce that the book that will build community as everyone reads and discusses the same title is
The Women by Kristin Hannah.

“On the Same Page invites people to connect through a shared reading experience,” said Hennie Vaandrager, Programming and Outreach Manager at KDL. “This year’s selection, The Women by Kristin Hannah, offers powerful themes to reflect on and discuss together. We hope readers will join us for meaningful conversations, impactful programs and the opportunity to see the story — and each other — through new lenses.”

On the Same Page will include book discussions, programs focused on the themes in the book and a Meet the Author event at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, June 9 at the Godwin Heights High School Auditorium. The author event will feature Kristin Hannah and special guest Megan Chance, who share a long-standing friendship.

Free registration for the author event will be required and will open on Monday, April 27 at 9:00 AM. To sign up for updates and reminders, visit kdl.org/samepage.

The Women by Kristin Hannah follows a young nurse who serves in Vietnam, shining a light on the courage, trauma and lasting bonds of women whose wartime sacrifices were long overlooked. Kirkus Reviews called The Women “a dramatic, vividly detailed reconstruction of a little-known aspect of the Vietnam War.”

Because The Women will be the book that everyone will be reading, KDL has purchased many copies to keep the hold times as short as possible. Place your hold today.
