Kent District Library Celebrates New Play Spaces with Find Your Knook Challenge

Kent District Library invites families with children ages 0-6 to take part in the Find Your Knook Challenge, taking place March 27 through April 12. Visit one of the new WonderKnook play spaces at any of KDL’s 20 branches, take a photo or video, and post it to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #WonderKnook. One lucky winner will receive an amazing prize pack that includes a Kindle Paperwhite, umbrella, WonderKnook T-shirt, wooden toys and more.

The interactive WonderKnook play spaces contain unique materials, toys and activities intentionally designed to help young children get ready to read and learn. These play spaces promote curiosity and wonder, spark imagination and encourage a lifetime of learning through discovery and exploration.

“We want everyone to feel valued and welcome at the library, even our littlest patrons,” said Jaci Cooper, KDL’s Director of Projects and Planning. “There's so much to explore with these exciting Montessori-inspired play pieces.”

Each WonderKnook is unique. There is a train at the Alto Branch, a firetruck at the Comstock Park Branch, a barn at the Alpine Township Branch and a treehouse at the Caledonia Township Branch…just to name a few. KDL wants families to enjoy many different play spaces. Pick up a WonderKnook map at any KDL branch. Visit WonderKnook at five different KDL branches to receive a WonderKnook coloring book.

KDL will celebrate the new play structures with a Ribbon-Cutting at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, March 28 at the Kentwood Branch of KDL. This will take place in conjunction with Storytime. The theme of the Kentwood WonderKnook is food trucks, and Patty Matters Food Truck will be at the event selling food.
