Kent District Library Launches Legendary Readers

New Reading Program Designed to Help Kids Develop Good Reading Habits

Kent District Library is pleased to introduce Legendary Readers, a simple and fun reading program designed to help children develop a lifetime love of reading and learning. Participants in grades K-5 are asked to read, write or visit the library for 100 days throughout the school year, outside of the classroom.

Legendary Readers has a cryptid theme, and completers will win a cool Nessie bookmark and be entered to win the grand prize of one of ten $100 gift cards to Schuler Books.

“Legendary Readers is not just about improving reading skills; it's about inspiring children to explore new worlds, find books they are passionate about and build powerful habits that will benefit them throughout their lives,” said Monica Walen, Branch Outreach and Programming Specialist at KDL. “We want kids to know they are welcome and celebrated at the library.”

Legendary Readers will run annually from the beginning of September through the beginning of June. Pick up a tracking log at any KDL branch or print one online at kdl.org/legendaryreaders. You can also track your participation using the Beanstack app. Registration for this year’s program will close on January 31. Prizes can be picked up at any KDL branch from January 2 – June 13, 2025.
