KDL Community Impact Scholarship

Introducing the Kent District Library (KDL) Community Impact Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to support individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to community service, inclusivity, and innovation and who maintain a meaningful relationship with their local library. Up to three $5,000 scholarships will be awarded with winners notified by May 1, 2025.

Applicant Eligibility

  • Must reside within the KDL service area and have a valid KDL library card.
  • May be college or trade school bound high school seniors or adults of any age who are returning to school.
  • Children of members of the KDL Leadership Team and children of members of the KDL Board of Trustees are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Applications must be submitted between December 1, 2024 and March 1, 2025.

How to Apply

  • Create a free Submittable account with an email address and password. Once logged in, you can access the KDL Community Impact Scholarship application form.
  • The online application form requires personal information, academic background and essay responses to selected prompts. Applicants can save their progress and return to the application at any time before the deadline.
  • You may upload supporting materials such as letters of recommendation and any additional documents that showcase community involvement or innovative projects. These uploads can be in PDF, JPEG or PNG format.

Review of Applicants and Selection of Scholarship Winners

  • After the March 1, 2025 deadline, all eligible applications will be reviewed by the scholarship selection committee.
  • Applications are reviewed using an anonymous and fair process, so the committee is judging only on the content of the applications.
  • The winners will be determined by the KDL Board of Trustees in a closed session at the April 2025 Board Meeting and notified afterwards.
