The Walker Library Extreme Makeover is Nearing Completion!
Here are some important things to know about changes in service while we prepare to move from the Walker Temporary Library (in Standale) back to Remembrance Road:
- The temporary location in Standale closed September 12.
- Grand opening at the Remembrance Road location will take place Monday, October 19.
- Until the library reopens at Remembrance Road, please consider any of the other 19 KDL locations for checking out materials, returning materials, study rooms, public PCs and printing.

About the Walker Extreme Makeover
The Walker Branch Library, built in 1991, has served the community well, but the City of Walker and the surrounding area have grown incredibly. Population of Walker has increased 43%, from 17,626 to 25,289 and the rate of growth is rapidly increasing. The library serves as a connecting place, a modern-day town square where everyone gathers to learn and connect. The EXTREME makeover of the Walker Library will include:
- 24,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art library and community space (increased from 8,898 sq. ft.)
- Large multi-purpose room, hosting up to 250 guests
- eSports facility
- Bright, open space throughout
- Expected to open in late 2026
