KDL has a lot of books on its shelves at any time, but there’s still a chance you’ll go looking for a book and it won’t be in our collection. KDL is a popular library, so if a book is too old or too obscure, chances are, we won’t have it. Then what?
Fret not! Just because it’s not on the shelf doesn’t mean it’s out of reach. If you don’t need the physical copy, check our digital collection. Your library card gets you access to Libby, which allows you to check out 40 books at a time, and Hoopla, which allows six. Not in our digital catalog, either? Consider checking the catalog at Grand Rapids Public Library branches or any library that’s part of the Lakeland Library Collective. Your card is valid there, too.
Or save yourself some time and check all the libraries throughout the state of Michigan, including GRPL and LLC, all at once by searching the Michigan eLibrary, or as we call it in the biz, MeL. Just enter your library card info and home branch, and the book will come to you like any other KDL hold.
Maybe there’s an item we don’t have in our catalog that you really feel should be there. You can do something about that, too! Log into your account at KDL.org and Submit a Suggestion. You can request up to five purchases a month, and if we order your items, you’ll be the first person to get your hands on them.
Use KDL for all its library magic goodness. There are so many more books available to you than just what’s in our catalog.
