Get to Know Kristin Hannah

Let’s get to know our author, Kristin Hannah.

Kristin Hannah is an award-winning author of numerous bestselling novels, including The Nightingale, The Four Winds and The Women.

Here are some fun facts about Kristin Hannah:

Before she became an author, she was a lawyer. She has said that her career as a lawyer taught her to distill a large amount of information very quickly, which is helpful in her research. She also believes that being a lawyer taught her how to develop a narrative, a critical skill for a fiction author.

Kristin Hannah writes all of her book's longhand on legal pads. When asked about where she likes to write, she said “I write longhand, so I can be in bed, in a chair, on the beach, on the ferry going to town, on an airplane. Anywhere.”

Her favorite part of the writing process is editing. “During this part of the process—and I never fail to come to this moment in a book, a moment where I realize (or am told) that a fundamental piece of my vision for the story is either flawed or not good enough—I roll up my sleeves and reimagine the story altogether. I change characters and backstories and plot points, anything that might be wrong” she told The Novelry.
