The Kent District Library Employees' Retirement Plan seeks a volunteer to serve in the role as Citizen Trustee on the KDL Pension Board. The Citizen Trustee will join two Employee Trustees, along with two Trustees serving as representatives of the KDL Board. The Citizen Trustee must be unaffiliated with the Kent District Library as either an employee or retiree. This individual would be expected to attend approximately four (4) meetings per year, along with paid education/conference travel between one to two-times per year, while serving as a fiduciary to the pension plan (accommodations for remote attendance is available).
Quarterly meetings involve reviewing of fund manager performance, reviewing of all fiduciary needs and expenses in administering the plan benefits to retirees of the library, and generally, making recommendations to the plan sponsor (i.e., the KDL Board of Trustees). The KDL Employees' Retirement Plan is a closed plan to new participants, is fully funded, and has experienced exceptional performance by peer comparison. Trustees make long-term investment decisions as supported by consultants and legal advisors to the plan. The ideal candidate will first and foremost have an interest in service to their community. Additional competencies include knowledge of the various elements and considerations relevant to traditional defined benefit pension plans.
Those interested in filling the role of Citizen Trustee should submit a letter of interest along with their unique qualifications to the Plan Administrator at: bmortimore@kdl.org, subject line: Pension Board.
This position is open until filled with the first review of candidates occurring on December 3rd, 2021.
