Volunteering: Opportunities for teens

Summer Teen Crew (incoming 6th graders and up)

Due to COVID-19, Teen Crew and all onsite volunteer activities are canceled until Kent District Library resumes full service. Teen Crew Coordinators are exploring virtual opportunities in the coming months. Updates will be posted periodically. Please call 616-784-2007 or email Volunteer@kdl.org with questions.

Grade 6-12 – Summer Wonder Teen Crew (June through August)

Our Teen Crew Program is a great way for high schoolers to get service hours and for "tweens" and younger teens to learn the basics of being a great library volunteer by helping with Summer Reading. Program goals are developing a lifelong commitment to giving back (philanthropy), character development, and good citizen skills.  Offered at most KDL Branches.

Applications for Teen Crew are accepted from April until spots are filled. Participation may be limited at some branches. Paper applications can be picked up at your branch.

Teen Crew applicants are expected to fill out their own forms and turn them into their branch personally.

Teen Crew Members MUST attend Teen Crew Orientation at their branch. Orientation will include branch tour, introduction to KDL VolunteerHub Scheduling, and KDL Way training. Stop in at your branch to find out the date of YOUR Teen Crew orientation, or contact the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@kdl.org or 616-784-2007
