Michael Finkel is the author of several nonfiction books, including The Art Thief: A True Story of Love, Crime, and a Dangerous Obsession, which was released in 2023. The Art Thief follows the true story of Stéphane Breitwieser, one of the most prolific art thieves, stealing more than 300 objects over the course of almost eight years across Europe. Unlike most art thieves, Breitwieser stole mostly from museums and cathedrals and never sold his stolen goods. Michael Finkel takes readers through the fascinating story and psychology behind these crimes.
In addition to The Art Thief, Michael Finkel is also known for his other books; The Stranger in the Woods: about a man who lives alone in the woods of Maine for 27 years; True Story, about an accused murderer who takes on Finkel's identity while on the run; and Alpine Circus, a collection of stories about the author's adventures skiing around the world.
We can't wait to hear Michael Finkel speak about his work. The Art Thief will be available for purchase on-site and a signing will follow the talk. Reserve your seat here: An Evening with Michael Finkel | Kent District Library | BiblioCommons
