KDL offers great online resources like Libby and Hoopla, but for Michigan-specific authors or topics, check out Read Michigan, a collection of regional e-books. Non-fiction and fiction titles about Michigan history, wildlife, foliage, cities and towns are available to read online at any time — no wait lists or hold queues required.
Do you like spending time outdoors but wish you knew more about the birds and flowers you see? Read Michigan offers Michigan Field Guides, as well as books on native fish and animals.
Do you want to know more about where your parents grew up? Read Michigan has nearly 300 titles in their Local Town Histories collection.
Perhaps you’re interested in learning what it was like living in Lenawee County during the Civil War. There’s a book about that in Read Michigan’s supply.
Read Michigan is a collaboration between The Library of Michigan, Michigan Humanities, and the presses of University of Michigan, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University. Though we at KDL would love it if every Michigander had a library card, you don’t need one to access this collection. Anyone can read any of the books at any time with an easy click of the mouse or through the BiblioBoard Library app.
Check it out at ReadMichigan.org or find it on KDL’s website at kdl.org/local-culture.
