Summer has arrived, and there’s a renewed sense of energy and possibility here at the library. Summer is one of my favorite times of year — families stopping in together, kids eagerly signing up for Summer Wonder and neighbors reconnecting in a shared space that belongs to all of us.
At the same time, we know that summer can bring challenges for many in our community, particularly when it comes to food access. For some families, the absence of school meals during these months creates added stress and uncertainty. That’s why the library is proud to play a role in helping address food insecurity.
Through partnerships with local organizations, we are working to make food more accessible to those who need it. From hosting meal distribution programs to providing information about local resources, our goal is to ensure that everyone who walks through our doors feels supported — not just intellectually, but in their day-to-day well-being. For more information about food access and resources in your community, please visit page 10 of the KDL Kaleidoscope.
Libraries have always been about more than books. They are about people, connection and care. This summer, we are committed to continuing that mission in meaningful ways. I invite you to stop by, take part in our summer offerings and see firsthand how your library is growing alongside the community it serves. As always, we’re glad you’re here.
Sincerely,
Lance Werner
Executive Director
