Anne Tawney and her three boys have been regular visitors to the Plainfield Twp. Branch of Kent District Library ever since her third son was born. Anne first started coming to the Mama Bear group while on maternity leave and kept coming back. The family frequently attends programs, visits the play space and checks out copious amounts of books for Anne and the boys.
At the beginning of the summer, Anne decided it would be fun to visit every KDL branch and check out the WonderKnook play spaces. By the time summer ended and before the two older boys started school, they had done just that! They took their maps along and collected stickers from each new library they visited. They had a great time exploring new libraries, investigating the play areas and discovering the communities around each branch.
The WonderKnook space that was the family’s favorite by far was the train at Alto, followed by the treehouse at Caledonia. Lowell and Nelson were also fun places for the family to check out. Anne loved the coziness of Nelson, and everyone enjoyed the Flat River.
The best part about visiting all the play spaces this summer was the cost. Libraries are free spaces and are open to everyone, which makes them more accessible than many other public spaces. Libraries are open no matter the weather and provide opportunities for everyone to learn, play, explore and connect.
