Requesting materials

Patrons are encouraged to request as many materials as desired. Reading preferences, including favorite authors and subjects, as well as specific titles can be added to a patron’s account at any time.

Materials can be requested in a variety of ways. See below for more information.

Contacting the Library

To request materials, fill out the Requesting TBBC Materials form. If you have questions, contact the Kent District TBBC by phone, mail, email, or in person. Staff members are happy to assist patrons in choosing reading materials. They will also assist the patron in adding, deleting, or changing reading preferences and account settings at any time.

Talking Book Topics & Braille Book Review Order Forms

Requests can be made by filling out and returning the order forms that are included in the Talking Book Topics and Braille Book Review catalogs. Check off any titles of interest and mail the form free of charge to the Kent District TBBC. Items requested on these forms will be placed on the patron's request list and sent to the patron as they become available.

Online Ordering

Patrons can order recorded books and Braille materials online through the Library of Michigan Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Users are welcome to browse the state catalog and request materials using the order form. Books and other materials will be sent to the patron as they become available.

Patrons may wish to search the National Library Service Voyager catalog, which lists the materials available at all regional and subregional LBPH libraries across the nation. Some materials not available through the Library of Michigan may be available to download for patrons as needed. Please contact the library for more details.

text-only version of the national catalog is also available.
