Volunteering: Opportunities for Teens
Opportunities for older high school students (age 14 and up)
KDL has fun and engaging ways for teens to get volunteer experience that counts toward their service learning hours. Experiences are community outreach-oriented and offer Teens the opportunity to develop their communication and engagement skills.
Examples of Teen Opportunities include but are not limited to:
Bookmobile Crew
Bring KDL Excitement for reading and learning outside the library with the Bookmobile! Older Teens will use engagement skills to interact with kids and parents at Bookmobile sites. Share knowledge of KDL programs and services (you will be trained!) and your favorite aspect of the library to get people talking and having fun.
KDL Mascot Crew
Ever look at professional sports team mascots and think, "Wow! That looks like a blast!" Me too! Learn how the pros do it and get lots of practice on the KDL Mascot Crew. Basic Mascot Training will be provided at orientation. Put THAT on your college apps!
Selected Branch Opportunities
Select KDL Branches have Teen volunteer opportunities year-round that involve weekly tasks, prep work and cleaning. Inquire at the desk at your home branch to speak with a Youth Librarian.
