A free summer concert? Yes, please!
Mark your calendar and make plans to attend an outdoor concert featuring Cabildo, taking place at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, June 7 at our Kelloggsville Branch, located at 4787 Division Ave S. in Grand Rapids. Cabildo is a West Michigan based alternative Latin rock collective that delivers a unique blend of cumbia, ska, folk and other genres of music from Latin and South America. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs. The rain date for the show is June 14. All ages welcome.
Cabildo roughly means Town Hall in Spanish. Historically, cabildos were gathering places located throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. They doubled as locations where African slaves could play traditional chants and drum parts. These were passed on through generations during Spanish colonization and continue to live on in today’s modern music.
We hope to see you there!
