KDL Vibes Fest Performer Spotlight: Singing Lungs

There's no better way to enjoy summer than with a music festival featuring your favorite West Michigan artists from the KDL Vibes, opens a new window collection. Vibes Fest will include daily concerts at KDL's Cascade Twp. Branch August 5-9, and the event will culminate with an all-day music extravaganza on August 10.

Singing Lungs will be performing on Saturday, August 10 at 2:00 PM at the Cascade Twp. Branch. The group blends influences from 90’s pop punk, alternative and grunge with the hooks and raw energy of 80’s power pop. The band is Jason Kotarski on vocals and guitar, Sean Murphy on bass and Ben Graham on drums and backing vocals. With members in Grand Rapids and Lansing, Singing Lungs performs all over Michigan and has shared the stage with the likes of Mustard Plug, Lagwagon, Laura Stevenson and even opened a rally for Bernie Sanders playing to thousands of people during his 2020 campaign stop in Grand Rapids.

In 2023, the band released their new album, "Coming Around" on Count Your Lucky Stars Records and Sell the Heart Records in the US as well as Engineer Records in the UK and Waterslide Records in Japan. "Coming Around" and their first album "Groan" are both available as a part of the KDL Vibes collection.

"Libraries are hugely important hubs for connection in our communities," said Jason Kotarski. "Bringing together libraries and local music is a marriage of two of our favorite things."

Jason, a KDL Librarian, loves that libraries provide equitable access to technology and information that levels the playing field for the entire community.

Mark your calendars now and plan to attend the show!
