Kent District Library Accepting Submissions from Local Musicians for Vibes Music Streaming Collection

Calling all local musicians! Kent District Library is now accepting submissions to KDL Vibes, our new streaming platform that features music from West Michigan musicians.

KDL Vibes is an online collection that showcases all the incredible music that can be found in West Michigan. Musicians who would like to have their music be considered for the collection are invited to submit a sample track from their album using the online form at vibes.kdl.org. After submitting the form, a jury consisting of members of West Michigan’s local music community and library staff with music backgrounds will review and select 25 new albums to add to the collection. These musicians will be paid a $250 honorarium for their contribution as a way for the library to support the vibrant arts community.

"Since KDL Vibes launched last year, we’ve been able to highlight dozens and dozens of West Michigan musicians who span a wide variety of genres, from hip hop to metal to experimental and everything in between,” said David Specht, Digital Marketing Strategist for KDL. “This has served as a terrific opportunity to strengthen the relationship between the library and the music community and to be able to connect our patrons to these incredible musicians that they might’ve never heard of until now. Not only do musicians get access to our giant audience of library patrons, but our patrons get access to a wealth of new, local music. It’s truly a win-win.”

Musicians looking for more information or who have any questions can visit vibes.kdl.org/faq or email the team at vibes@kdl.org. To submit your music, visit vibes.kdl.org/submit.
