When we asked area artists to send us submissions for the inaugural KDL Coaster Art Contest, we got a lot of great entries. The following 4-question interview is with Anna Miedema, whose submission was among the top five entries for the contest. Her coaster design will be available at Rockford Brewing Company.
What can you tell us about yourself?
I'm a graphic designer, donut lover, Jesus follower, and as of this summer...a pickleballer. My husband and I are living the dream with our two kids in Rockford, MI.
What’s the story behind your art submission?
I was going for a bold, clean design with a bit of a retro color scheme. I love when design draws you in and I think the smaller text accomplishes that.
What’s the finest beverage that could sit on your coaster?
I'm actually a big fan of root beer (they deserve coasters too!) so I would probably go with a Rambo Root Beer or an Old Cedar Creek Root Beer.
Tell us what the library means to you.
The library is one of the coolest public resources. I've always taken advantage of the book aspect but have a whole new appreciation for it now that I have young kids. The storytimes and play spaces make for awesome weekly visits.
