Back in July, Kent District Library invited artists everywhere to participate in the first ever Coaster Art Contest. We had so many great entries, it was difficult for our panel of judges to choose the top five finalists.
"I knew that West Michigan was loaded with talent, but I was blown away by the art entries that came in," said Josh Mosey, KDL's digital marketing strategist and creator of the coaster art contest.
The winning coaster artists include:
- Lori Eslick - Artist & Book Illustrator
- Christina Hutton - Graphic Designer & Muralist
- Anna Miedema - Graphic Designer & Marketer
- Erin Mulder - Illustrator & Art Student
- Aude Shattuck - Multimedia Artist
The theme for this year's contest was "Library Love," and the winning entries are as varied in their artistic genres as the library's collection itself. From watercolors to digital designs to hand-drawn doodles, these coasters have a little something for everyone. Stay tuned to this blog for an upcoming series of interviews with each winner (and we'll show you the winning designs!).
The winning coasters will be available toward the middle of September at the following KDaLe partner breweries: Archival Brewing, Broad Leaf Brewery & Spirits in Kentwood, Creston Brewery, Pike 51 Brewing Co., Railtown Brewing Co., Rockford Brewing Company, TwoGuys Brewing and Third Nature Brewing Co.
Each brewery will only have one of the winning coaster designs. To collect them all, you'll have to visit multiple breweries. And while you're at it, make sure you have your KDaLe Quest Guide with you!
